During the summer of 2008 as part of this Lottery Funded project, a number of events and workshops were held in Leamington Spa and Warwick relating to camoflague.

The Secret Artists

Art Workshops for people with disabilities and difficulties, inspired by camouflage and the Civilian Camouflage Directorate, were facilitated by Helena and Margaret Godwin and Grace Newman. A selection of the artwork produced was exhibited at the Old Museum & Art Gallery during July.

 

3D Jigsaw with David Dewis

Dave Dewis with his mobile workshop at Leamington Peace Festival making a 3-D jigsaw design, based around natural camouflage. Each section was fitted together and displayed at the Old Museum & Art Gallery.

Clapham Terrace

Mary Partridge and Suminder Sahota held workshops based on natural camoflague with pupils at Clapham Terrace School.

This was a unique chance to view some of the first printed camouflage courtesy of Stephen Whitehead at Warwick Museum

Model Boat Display

Coventry and Warwickshire Boat Club brought their fleet of model craft to Mill Gardens Boating Lake.

Meet the Maniacs!

Sez-U Community Theatre held two re-enactment days in Spencers Yard, the site of the original Camoflague Unit's base. Artist workshops and period vehicles were also part of the day.

Treasure Hunt

Stephen Whitehead made and hid model factories in and around Leamington Spa and Warwick as part of a treasure hunt. The winner received a voucher that could be redeemed in the local army and navy store, Klobba.

Other activities that took place included artist workshops by Suki Daliwa, and Dave Dewis at Shrubland Street Community School. An exhibition based on Thayer's work by Stephen Whitehead at the Pump Rooms and a number of talks and walks took place in and around Leamington Spa.
